FIRE RESISTANT HYDRAULIC FLUIDS ISO 46 & 68
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Fire Resistant Hydraulic Fluids ISO 46 & 68 have been purposefully designed to serve as substitutes for anti-wear, mineral oil-based hydraulic fluids, especially in scenarios where fire hazards are a concern. These fluids are versatile enough to be applied in environmentally sensitive hydraulic systems without compromising their overall operational efficiency.
What sets Fire Resistant Hydraulic Fluids ISO 46 & 68 apart is their composition, which excludes water, mineral oil, or phosphate ester. Instead, they rely on top-notch synthetic organic esters and meticulously selected additives to deliver outstanding hydraulic fluid performance. In fact, they provide lubrication on par with premium anti-wear hydraulic oils and are compatible with hydraulic components from all major manufacturers.
BENEFITS

COMPATIBILITY
Metals: Fire Resistant Hydraulic Fluids ISO 46 & 68 are compatible with iron and steel alloys and most nonferrous metals and their alloys. They are not compatible with lead, cadmium, zinc, and alloys containing high levels of these metals. Suitable substitutes for these materials are available and should be used.
Paints and Coatings: Fire Resistant Hydraulic Fluids ISO 46 & 68 are compatible with multi- component epoxy coatings. They are not compatible with zinc-based coatings. Specific coating and application recommendations can be obtained from coating manufacturers or directly from your Vesta representative.
Fluids: Fire Resistant Hydraulic Fluids ISO 46 & 68 are compatible and miscible with nearly all mineral oil and polyol ester type hydraulic fluids and with some, but not all, phosphate esters. They are not miscible or compatible with water-containing fluids. For conversion recommendations, please contact your Vesta representative.
Vesta suggests that the equipment manufacturers’ recommendations for viscosity grade, performance requirements and general operating conditions should be checked prior to use.
The following chart contains recommendations regarding the use of Fire Resistant Hydraulic Fluids ISO 46 & 68 with commonly used elastomers. The elastomer applications listed are: “Static” which refers to trapped nonmoving seals such as O-rings in valve sub-plates and rigid, low pressure hose connections; “Mild-Dynamic” whose applications include accumulator bladders and hose linings where the hoses are exposed to high pressure and light flexing; and “Dynamic” which refers to cylinder rod seals, pump shaft seals and constantly flexing hydraulic hose.
